Fares are collected in cash by the deck attendant; credit and debit cards are not accepted and exact change is appreciated. Vehicle prices include one driver. The operator's price page carries the line 'Prices are subject to change' and gives no effective date; the table was unchanged when read on October 16, 2026. Round-trip prices are printed for cars, vans and pickups only; the page does not say whether the other prices are one way or return. All fares in US dollars (USD).
Fort Ti Ferry is a small private operation that has run a car ferry between Larrabees Point in Shoreham, Vermont, and the Ticonderoga side of Lake Champlain since, by the operator's own account, 1759. The vessels are a tug, the Addie B, and a 96-ton steel barge, the Fort Ticonderoga II; together they hold 18 cars and carry vehicles up to 15 tons gross weight. Crossing the water takes about 7 minutes, and the operator says to expect roughly three round trips an hour.
This crossing works differently from most on the site, because it does not publish a departure list. What it does publish is the frame around the day: fall hours are Tuesday through Sunday, the ferry is closed on Mondays, and the last departure is 5:30 pm from Shoreham and 5:45 pm from Ticonderoga. A recruitment notice on the operator's site describes daily hours of 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. Outside busy periods you pull the signal flag at the landing to call the boat, and the operator asks you to arrive 15 minutes before closing time.
The 2026 season, according to the same notice, ran from May 1 to October 14. That date has passed. When the operator's website was read on October 16, 2026 it showed no closing notice and no extension, and it still listed Columbus Day hours as to be determined, so the page was clearly not being kept current. The operator says its Facebook page carries the daily updates. No 2027 opening date is published; the contact page describes the season as Tuesday to Sunday from May to October, and the ferry has ended its season early before, in 2025, because of low water.
Payment is the practical trap. The ferry accepts cash only, and exact change is appreciated. A car with its driver is $12 one way or $20 round trip; vans and pickups are priced the same way. Walk-on adults pay $4, seniors 65 and over $3 and children aged 6 to 12 $2, while under-sixes ride free. Motorcycles are $7 (plus $3 with a trailer) and trikes are $10. No reservations are taken. Cars board first come, first served, and the operator puts the usual wait at 15 to 20 minutes.
The Vermont landing is at 4831 Route 74 West in Shoreham; the New York landing is on Route 74 at the lake in Ticonderoga.
Arrive at the terminal several minutes before departure; vehicle lanes close earlier than the foot-passenger gate.
Check the operator's service alerts before you set out — weather, tides and vessel maintenance change sailings.
Confirm accepted payment methods: some crossings are card-only and some take cash only.
